Rising star researcher

Olga Guryanova, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Olga Guryanova is the 2023 recipient of the Rising Star Researcher Award in Foundational or Translational Sciences for her team’s work in developing therapeutic strategies to overcome resistance to existing anti-cancer therapies for acute myeloid leukemia.

UF Diabetes Institute

Researchers at the UF Diabetes Institute, led by Mark Atkinson, Ph.D., received a UC4 award, the fourth awarded to UF, to study human islets in Type 1 diabetes. Less than 10 of these grants were awarded by the NIH in 2015.
